Description
“Great, isn’t it? I love the deep resonating tone, and delayed splash. And I know you can’t see it, but this gong is gorgeous, with distinct lathing. You’re going to love this thing. Incredible, deep, shimmery, expressive, healing! They are words I say to describe it, but it is not the actual sound!”
“How did you know I wanted this?” you ask. “And, uh, how did you get my number?”
“The Universe! I call out to help people and the Universe sends me to you!” Andrew says. “Don’t ask me how it works! I am not in charge. Have a good one!”

The Sun Gong, what we at Gongs Unlimited call the Solar Flare Gong, is a less traditional Chinese Gong than some of the other styles. Its a more recent design created by Chinese gong makers and is available to all gong sellers, so we felt compelled to put it in the Traditional section. It is basically a Wind Gong, but with concentric bands of lathed and unlathed circles. The unlathed parts control the crash and splash, less than a Wind Gong. The rings concentrate the tones and it does not open up sound-wise like a fully lathed gong.
The 36″ Solar Flare Gongholds layer upon layer of sound in its concentric rings. Like a Wind Gong, the Solar Flare Gong has no rim. Sound flies out of this baby–flies, bounces and shimmers in a surprisingly controlled fashion.
For those little black rings accentuating those bronze curves are not just for fashion, but to keep the sound waves from crashing too hard, keeping everything in perfect grace.
